The museum building, reminiscent of a Native American Longhouse, is located on the UO campus just across from historic Hayward Field. Look for the hammered copper sculptures of a Salmon, Bear and Raven by Oregon artist Wayne Chabre. The sculptures represent important character traits in Native American legends of the Northwest. The Glenn Starlin Native Plant Courtyard offers over two hundred species of native plants and a geologic time-line walk. Inside experience 15,000 years of Northwest cultural history and 200 million years of geology in the exhibit Oregon - Where Past is Present. Realistic environmental displays portray four geographic regions of Oregon, each a different time in history and a different season of the year. The Museum of Natural and Cultural History (MNCH) is Oregon's primary repository for anthropological and paleontological collections.
