“Combining Subject Matter with Abstract Design”
After last year’s successful three-day workshop, participants said, “We want more time!” This year Margaret will teach a four-day workshop exploring abstract design in combination with representational subject matter. In this workshop, you will learn how to create collage papers, compose a dynamic abstract design, combine abstract design with representational shapes, use color and shape to unify a painting, and build a painting using an intuitive process.
Participants will expand their experience with representational shapes united with abstract form using watercolor, acrylic paint and collage. All collage materials will be created by the participants using old paintings, newly-created pattern paintings and stained rice paper. Margaret uses an intuitive approach which she describes as “creating and solving problems.” Her fearless approach to the creation of a painting will help students let go, loosen up, and stop worrying about the rules.
