The Woodpecker’s Muse exhibits a solo show entitled “Screened In,” featuring works in oil and mixed medium by Adam Lesh on March 2nd. The heart of his work is an interest in technology and psychology, and in probing the ever shifting borders between self, society, and culture. By using screens as a metaphor, a tool, and a source; they serve as both cover for hiding and as a crystal ball for viewing the world remotely. In todays society the most "real" aspects of our lives are viewed thru the screens of our phones and computers: photos, Facebook posts, and hyper-real entertainment productions as tangible as any objects that exist within our physical space. The artist intends to tease apart possible meanings, to reorient these dizzying phenomena from the quick time of bits to the slow time of paint via the translation from binary abstraction to physical reality.
"Betty and the Boy defy simple categorization. Though the quartet's string-laden melodies occasionally anchor them in the territories of folk, bluegrass, or minimalist rock, they're more at home in the cracks in-between. It's from these deeper, often darker, places where Betty Jaeger's voice reaches up, takes you by the hand, and invites you along for the ride – a difficult offer to refuse." performance begins at 6:00 pm and continues through the evening.
Returning to it's new home, “Love Letters” will be lit with a special performance by Artist Terry Holloway. As always the gallery unites all forms of art to our events and generous donations by Ninkasi Brewing Company for your enjoyment.
